Play Therapist - "I wonder if you know why you are here?"....the starting point and the beginning of the therapeutic relationship between therapist and child.
Generally the adults involved in the life of the child have an idea of why they think the child should be referred for therapy....however the Play Therapist- while holding this initial background information- keeps an open mind and receives the child with acceptance, empathy and unconditional positive regard as often the young person coming in to the therapy room opens up the big bag of worries- and it might look very different from what was first thought....
