Week 5 of our Summer Superhero’s Group.
The young people discussed their superhero’s problems and issues that may affect them from last weeks activity. They were then told stories of superheroes related to the issues they had identified – Nightlight and how he overcame his fear of the dark, Batman and bullying and the Hulk and his anger. The stories included how they overcame these fears with meditation, breathing exercises, and physical activity and sports.
They then took part in an arts and crafts activity using clay to model something that represented their problems/issues.
The session ended with the young people finishing their worry monster boxes including writing their own worries – scrunching them up and feeding them to their worry monsters.
Our Superhero groups are funded by The National Lottery Young Start are a diversionary activity which help us meet outcomes for children and young people by building confidence; improving mental, physical and emotional health; and providing new skills to help cope and manage with the use of superheroes and the values they represent.
